A Messy, Messy Day

Some days just seem to be extra messy, and today was definitely one of those.  Karlie had her Halloween party at school and came home with a bag full of candy and extremely wound up.  I gave the kids their lunch and they asked when they were done if they could eat Karlie's candy.  I told them they could each have a piece and then it was time to get ready for naps.
I had been feeding Brayden at the table, but when he started stinking I left to go change him and when I came back it was quite evident that much more than one candy per child had been consumed.  While trying to put the bag of candy up out of reach and usher Karlie and Derek in the direction of the bathroom to clean up Brayden spit all over me.  No sooner had I cleaned up that mess than Derek started telling me that his tummy hurt and he was still hungry.  I told him that I thought his tummy probably hurt from eating too much candy.  As we were walking down the hall to his bedroom to get him ready for his nap he threw up.  Almost the whole length of the hall was now covered in his lunch.  Thankfully our hall is tile, but Derek walked right through the middle of it and into his bedroom onto our year old carpet.  Holding Brayden there was little I could do without walking through the mess myself other than to repeat again and again for him to get back out here.  Brayden screamed in his swing almost the whole time I was cleaning up the mess, and by the time I was done Karlie and Derek had spilt water in the kitchen.  By that point I put Karlie and Derek both in their beds and told them that they got to read their own nap time story so that I could take care of a very mad baby.
The good news is that all three of them took good naps so that I could have a break after that terrific ordeal.  Now being smart we were out of bread and so I was going to make some so that I didn't have to go to the store with three kids because that in of itself is a very fun thing to do.  Karlie was awake at that point and wanted to help which I don't mind I enjoy teaching my kids how to do things and letting them help.  By the time we were adding the last of the flour Derek came out and wanted to help too.  He was mad that Karlie was on the chair and so I was holding him up with one arm while measuring flour with the other.  He wanted to poor it in the bowl and so I helped him and no sooner was it in the bowl than he turned the kitchen aid on full speed and the flour went flying everywhere.  While there was flour all over Karlie the counter and the floor I couldn't help but laugh.  Once again we cleaned up another big mess.  They were happy to help and always enjoy eating what they help make.  Who new kids could make so many big messes in one day.  I think if you new all that kids could do you probably would stop having them before you started.  At least the last mess was made while having fun working together.
