Now, a side note of my own. After only four days of using her new backpack that she picked out herself with the Disney princesses on it of course, those suckers are not cheap either, the zipper broke. Nothing was going to fix it, and of course it's not designed such that it could be replaced without taking the whole backpack apart. My solution, I made a new one. Complete with a good working zipper, which I put in myself. I have never done that before. I didn't have a pattern or anything. I even had enough foresight to use bias tape on the inside seams to keep them from fraying, and it made it look more finished than just zigzagging the edges too. My sewing machine does some basic embroidery so I was able to put her name on it too. The straps are even adjustable just like the store bought ones. Her favorite part was the cool matching button that I found in my button jar. I just might have to make myself one now!

It's My Right to Brag!
Karlie started Kindergarten this year. I can't believe that it has been a whole month already, time has gone so fast. She was chosen to be in the all day kindergarten program and is doing so well. I've talked to her teacher a couple of times and she always has such good things to say about her. She came home yesterday so excited that she got to eat lunch with her principal. At first I was a little bit concerned that maybe she had misinterpreted the situation and that maybe this wasn't a good thing. But then she showed me the certificate that she had been presented as well which stated that she had been recommended for the reward because she has done such a good job following directions. To Karlie the best part was the chocolate ice cream sandwich that she got as well.
Karlie is such a natural born leader and as such all of the kids tend to follow her, so I'm glad that she's at least setting a good example. She talks about her many friends which is just about anyone with whom she comes in contact. She has such an ability to see the good in everyone, a trait that I hope she never loses. She read me a book the other day and I only had to help her with a couple of words. My baby is growing up! Last night as I was going through some old pictures on my computer I came across some videos from about two and a half years ago of her singing. I can't believe how much she has grown up since then. We have had challenges that have been very trying at times that last little while with her, but the last couple of days have given me hope that I can get through this and that everything is going to be alright. Karlie loves to help with everything, especially her brothers. She is constantly trying to help take care of Brayden, sometimes a little bit too much, but he does like his big sister. By lunch time Derek wants to know when she is going to be home so that he can play with her. I'm glad that they get a long, at least most of the time. I am so proud of Karlie. She is so smart, and always tries to please and do what is right. I'm glad that she is part of our family!
